For Shivagurunath (Shiva) Senthil, applying to the IG50 was a leap encouraged by friends and one he’s incredibly glad he took. “It felt like a fantastic opportunity to strengthen my CV, and the prizes were genuinely useful for my development,” he says. Winning the IG50 gave Shiva exactly what he hoped for: real industry experience. Through the Boost 2025 programme, he secured a placement with Binary Spiders as a Gameplay Animator, working directly in the field he wants to build his career in. “The best thing about winning IG50 was the industry experience,” he explains. “It was invaluable, not just for my CV, but for my growth as an animator.” At Binary Spiders, Shiva thrived. He learned new rigging techniques, saw his work come to life in‑engine, and even contributed to shaping character behaviour and ethos. He also learned to seek feedback early, a skill that strengthened both his workflow and his confidence. The studio felt his impact too. Jared Merritt, CEO at Binary Spiders shared that Shiva animated some big bosses in their internal projects and fit seamlessly into the team’s relaxed culture. “He’s professional, very courteous… just a really easygoing experience,” Jared said. Professionally, the past year has been transformative. Shiva’s placement was extended into a paid contract, turning his Boost opportunity into long‑term employment. “I love the job I’m in now,” he says. “I truly believe the Boost programme played a huge role in getting me here quicker than the job search in the current market.” “If you’re thinking of applying to IG50, go for it. It’s a great opportunity to gain real industry experience, build your confidence, and open doors you might not expect.”
